Surf, Sand, and the Stevenson’s

My first session at the beach! I have always wanted to shoot at the beach for some reason or another. Maybe it’s the whole walking off into the sunset with the wind blowing your hair sort of thing. I had such a good time with the Stevenson family. They were great sports! There was a storm approaching and the wind was insane but again, it gave them the whole Hollywood look. Having not shot at the beach before, I had some expectations of sand getting everywhere on the camera but man it got everywhere. I still think I’m cleaning sand off my camera and from my lens. It was so worth it. These pictures rock in my opinion! Luke and Bailey were so comfortable in front of the camera and I loved snapping away at them. Seriously adorable! Now we all have a little bit of beach to carry around with us! Hope you enjoy the surf and sand with the Stevenson family.

These are beautiful!

Holly, these are awesome! The black and whites/sepias are perfect. They are my favorite and catch the true spirit. They are timeless.

They turned out great. How you positioned everyone so the wind didn’t blow their hair in their face is a feat within itself. Kudos.

Blooming Belly in the Making

I love babies as much as I love weddings! It’s something about the anticipation of becoming a parent for the first time. Unless you are a parent, it’s so hard to put that feeling into words. I did not love being pregnant with my Addie because it was no cake walk for me, but I did love feeling her dance around (I just knew she was going to be a ballerina) and missed it for several months after I could hold her in my arms. It was just different. I had to share her with the world but she was “all mine” for nine months. These feelings always pop back up in my head and heart when I do a maternity session. I’m so giddy for the parents to be and I am so excited for them to experience the joy of parenthood. It is not easy but nothing rewarding is easy right! Jackie and Travis, it was so fun getting to know you and to hear about Baby Knox whom will be making his grand entrance next month. You are just an adorable couple so I just know Knox will be too. Jackie and Travis were the winners of my giveaway session from Facebook. They totally rocked that contest let me tell you. Thank you so much! I can not wait to met Knox. I get the pleasure of taking his newborn pictures! Until then, enjoy the before pics! Belly bumps are just awesome!

The Johnston’s Call to the Post

Most girl’s tell their daddies that they want a horse. Some can only aspire while some live the dream! I had the honor of second shooting at Chris and Brian’s wedding last weekend. I jump on any opportunity to second shoot. It’s all about creativity (if you know me, you know I’m your detail getter) plus no pressure. Gotta love that! Well Chris has grown up on the back of a horse and wanted Gypsy (her horse) to play a very key role in her big day. She even rode Gypsy down the aisle! After a hot and cicada filled ceremony, we headed off to Forest Park with Gypsy in tow. I counted 11 bridal parties in the park that day but none had the horse factor! Yes I got carried away taking pictures with the horse, but who can blame me? I’m still the girl who wants her daddy to buy me a horse! Thought I would share! I think the best was having Chris, Brian and Gypsy climb this huge rocky hill only to stand in a stream. Gypsy probably thought we all were a little crazy but the pictures from this session rock! The reception was too fun. It was held at Farmount Park. Can you hear Call to the Post being played in your head! Again that rocks! Chris knew how to bet on the ponies and had won every race prior to us photogs leaving. Here is to a life of luck and happiness Chris and Brian. Thanks so much for letting me tag along on your special day and for letting me get my horse fix!

Fun Family Times With the Dolitsky’s

I know I always dote on how  adorable my families are that I get to take pictures of, but you have to agree with me! Are the Dolitsky’s just not adorable!! Met Mark, Katie, Ben and Abby. I found out they call their Abby Doodlebug which is what I call my daughter. Awesome right! Great minds think alike! We were hoping to keep the rain at bay and our no rain dance worked out. The weather was dry and not so hot and humid like the other days. Man Saint Louis humidity will get you! Ben is just the ladies man. Look at those eyes. They totally melted my heart and he was a wonderful sport about doing everything that I asked of him. Abby was all toddler and I loved the thrill of the chase. Katie, even though I ran after her hoping to get “the shot,” I think we got many of “the shots!” Most of my favorite shots of the family were the candid ones. You could see how close they were. Makes my job easy peasy! Thanks Dolitsky for spending your evening with me!

Surprise 16th for Lukas!

So what do you call it when a boy turns 16? For some odd reason Sweet 16 just seems not right to me. Google was no help either, well anyways happy 16th Birthday Lukas! Lukas was the recipient of a surprise 16th party that I had the honor to shoot. His mom got him pretty good too. She told him they were doing family pictures and that he had to dress to “match” the family. Well it was partly true because we did take some family pictures. How awesome is that! A good time was had by all. I hope you were surprised Lukas and that you enjoyed your party. Thank you for letting me be a part of it!
